For the first time and in exclusivity with the Alliance Française Silicon Valley, the National Museum of Prehistory in Les Eyzies, Dordogne,
France opens its permanent collections. Éléonore de Castro, lecturer specialized in paleontology will be our guide for this
journey conducted in English.This visit will take you back to the prehistoric ice age when the first men occupied the Dordogne. It is a
landscape of steppes made of forests frozen lands, reindeers, mammoths, woolly rhinoceroses. We hope this experience will give you
a better understanding of the history of this particular period of humanity.
Indeed, this museum was built in a cliff in which we can observe the successive archaeological layers of this period.
This virtual visit will be followed by a Q&A led by Véronique Vassout.
Doors open at 8:30am to give you time to enjoy a coffee, croissant and taste the Petit Pot.
Eléonore de Castro studied prehistoric and protohistoric archeology in Toulouse and completed a research master's degree in
archeology in 2017. Throughout her studies, she participated in excavation sites and offered voluntary cultural mediation activities
with various associations. Passionate about the world of museums and cultural mediation in archaeology, she then obtained the national
lecturer's guide card and notably worked for the Réunion des Musées Nationaux - Grand Palais, at the national archeology museum (78),
at the National Museum of the Middle Ages, ancient thermal baths of Cluny (75). Since April 2022, Eléonore has held the position of
titular RMN-GP lecturer guide at the National Museum of Prehistory, rich in more than 7 million objects, from the Paleolithic to the
Metal Ages, in Eyzies de Tayac, the international capital of Prehistory which welcomes visitors and scientists from all over the
world.
